Friday Night Lights: El-Op (Elbit) CORAL-SD MWIR Thermal Spotter

Hello and how are you on this Friday night? Did you enjoy reading about the Thermal Camo 2.0 test last Friday? Well, today we have a very rare and obscure thermal spotter, there CORAL-SD by El-Op which is a division of Elbit Systems.
More Thermal Spotters @ TFB:

ELBIT PAS-22 LRTI (CORAL)
The Marines have something called a PAS-22 LRTI but Elbit Systems calls it the CORAL. This is different from the CORAL SD. It does not have the Day camera bolted to the top. It is a cooled thermal with optical zoom. It is a simpler version of a JIM-LR. While it has optional accessories like GPS, laser pointer and compass. These are all features built into the JIM-LR by SAFRAN. I assume the PAS-22 LRTI uses that black accessory rail on the top of the housing to mount the lasers.
CORAL-SD MWIR Spotter
Thanks to Matt Y. for letting me borrow this CORAL-SD. It is a very obscure device. I have not been able to find much about it online. This is all I could find on Elbit’s website.
CORAL-SD is a revolutionary thermal camera that can remotely detect IEDs and other covert threats under clothing, without invading personal privacy. The camera utilizes advanced sensors and cutting-edge algorithms to passively detect a range of threats and thermal anomalies including explosive belts made of plastic and potentially dangerous materials such as glass, ceramic and fluids.
The only other mention of the CORAL-SD that I could find online was on the ArmyRecognition website.
Coral-SD now known as Emerald-SD is a tripod mounted/hand held, high-performance, short range day/night thermal imaging system using a latest generation day  camera and a highly sensitive InSb Focal Plane Array thermal camera. This system is used forspecial detection applications such as crowd control and check point security applications. Emerald-SD features an advanced high resolution detector, integral day CCD cameras, advanced high resolution color OLED display and an adjustable binocular viewer. It is ideal for short range surveillance and targeting, security and perimeter defense, installation security and target identification and confirmation.
This intrigued me if it could really do what they claim. However, Matt does not know how this works. He did not even have a battery for it but luckily it uses the same type of batteries as the JIM-LR/LRTV. However, the CORAL-SD has different style battery connectors than the JIM-LR. The JIM-LR has curved brass contacts that touch the brass rectangular contacts shown below. The CORAL-SD has actual pins that plug into the battery. The Bren-Tronics BT-70747 battery and similar batteries have a plastic sticker that covers up the female battery ports. Peel the sticker off and you can plug the battery into the CORAL-SD.

The CORAL-SD has metal lens covers for the thermal objective and day camera. The battery is installed in the front with a snap lever closure.

Just to the right of the battery is the J1 port. This is a data part. I suspect this is used to connect to possibly a compass, GPS, or other military devices.

For controls, on the top of the CORAL-SD there are three buttons on either side.

You hold the CORAL-SD like a giant pair of binoculars. Your fingers rest over the three buttons on either side. On the left, you have the Auto/Manual and Menu button. Pressing this button switches from Auto to Manual mode. In the Manual mode, you can adjust gain and levels. If you press this button down and hold it, a menu pops up. The middle button changes polarity. Pressing and holding it down enables the reticle or disables it if is displayed. The third button is for entering and selecting options in the menu.

One nice thing about the CORAL-SD over the JIM-LR is the right-hand side buttons. You can adjust focus and zoom independently. My first JIM-LR has focus set as the default setting for the right-hand side buttons. I would have to cycle through the menu to switch to Zoom and then I could zoom in or out. My senior JIM-LR has the zoom function set as default. I would have to cycle through the menu to enable the focus option and then I could adjust focus. Rarely do I need to adjust focus on these devices but I do zoom in and out frequently. But having focus independent from zoom is a definite boon for the CORAL-SD. If you press and hold the zoom button you will enable the 2x digital zoom. Here the JIM-LR is better as it has 2x, 4x, and 8x digital zoom.

On the back, there is a directional pad joystick. Below that is the power switch. If you are in manual mode pressing left or right adjusts the gain. Pressing the d-pad up or down adjusts levels. The power switch has a standby mode but I cannot figure out how to wake up the CORAL-SD in standby mode. Maybe it just turns the OLED displays off to conserve power and I have to flip the switch to ON to turn them back on.

Underneath the right eyepiece is another button you press with your right-hand thumb. This switches between thermal, EOS mode, and day camera.

Unlike the JIM-LR, the CORAL-SD has actual eyepieces. They have independent diopters and you can adjust the pupillary distance (PD). You can see the yellow brackets with numbers. Push the eyepieces and the leading edges will touch the brackets that correspond to your PD. The eyepieces are rather tiny and the eyecups have the shutter feature. You have to push them into your eye socket to open them up.

I found it easier to just remove the eyecups but I still feel a little bit uncomfortable having these narrow eyepieces in front of my eyeballs. They are smaller than my eye socket.

One feature I really like on the CORAL-SD is the video out BNC port just to the left of the objective lens. The placement seems a bit odd as a video cable could get in the way of the objective lens. On the JIM-LR you have to connect to an odd proprietary connector with a special video out cable. Here I can just use any BNC cable and connect it to my USB converter and record the video stream using an app.

The CORAL-SD is similarly sized to the JIM-LR.
L-R: Sophie, JIM-LR, CORAL-SD FLIR See Spot III below.
 Using The CORAL-SD
As mentioned above, the CORAL-SD has some features like button layout and easier video out capability than my JIM-LR. In terms of thermal image quality, they are neck and neck. The CORAL-SD has a mode called EOS. I am not entirely sure what it is for but it has 10 different LUT (Lookup Table). It is almost like different palettes but that is not what is happening. My friend Cajer thinks it might help show subtle differences with higher contrast. When you are in EOS mode, you press up or down on the d-pad to change LUTs. Holding the d-pad right will wipe the EOS image over to reveal the normal thermal image underneath. You can get a slit screen effect. See the video below.

Here is the CORAL-SD looking at the 530 yard shed.

Given the description on Elbit System’s website:
detect a range of threats and thermal anomalies including explosive belts made of plastic and potentially dangerous materials such as glass, ceramic and fluids.
I tried to test this. I concealed a Beretta 92, since it is an all-metal frame handgun, in AIWB without a holster. It did not show up under any of the LUTs. Or under thermal when I had a simple t-shirt hiding it.

The concealed carry test did not seem to yield positive results. So I decided to hide a padded plastic bubble wrap envelope under my shirt. Now the CORAL-SD was able to detect something.
You can see the shape/outline of the padded envelope.

Final Thoughts On The CORAL-SD
The CORAL-SD is neat but it is really limited compared to the Vectronix SAFRAN JIM-LR. It does not have a built-in rangefinder capable of ranging 10km, compass or GPS, nor does it have built-in image capture capabilities.
My contact at Elbit America did not have any information on the CORAL-SD so he said to try contacting Elbit Systems. I tried reaching out to them but have not heard back. I am very curious to see the CORAL-SD do what they claim it can do. I am sure I am not using it correctly since Matt does not have a manual for it.
I find the day camera an odd choice to add to the CORAL. It is neat but it is just a day camera and strangely enough when I output the video through the BNC port I showed earlier in this article, no day channel shows up in the video feed. It only shows FLIR and EOS modes. I tried talking to some EOD friends but they do not use thermal to detect threats. Some other people have reached out to me telling me they used a PAS-22 CORAL for detecting IEDs in Afghanistan. Not the CORAL-SD. If you have used a CORAL-SD, please comment. And thank you for reading along. […]

Planned Parenthood Wants to End the Idea of Virginity

Planned Parenthood’s latest statement on Twitter claims the concept of virginity is an outdated idea.
In a tweet, Planned Parenthood wrote, “The idea of virginity comes from outdated — let’s be real, patriarchal— ways of thinking that hurts everyone.”
Attached to the tweet was a picture of a billboard that read, “Virginity is a social construct.”

— Planned Parenthood (@PPFA) June 29, 2023

Here was Twitter’s reaction:

Sounds like something a pedo would say.
— The Redheaded libertarian (@TRHLofficial) June 29, 2023

Once again Planned Parenthood is gaslighting the youth, this time into thinking virginity doesn’t exist, and that they should throw it away immediately.
Why? Could it be because virgins aren’t paying customers to Planned Parenthood?
Stop telling children they are sexual… https://t.co/nB11koCmlB
— Gays Against Groomers (@againstgrmrs) June 30, 2023

Planned Parenthood previously published an article titled “VIRGIN TERRITORY: WHY OUR SEX EDUCATORS DON’T USE THE TERM VIRGINITY.”
In the article, the lead sex educator for Planned Parenthood, Chrissy Cmorik, wrote, “Virginity is a social construction that is meant to keep women in their place.”

Per Planned Parenthood:
“It isn’t a medical term and in our classes we teach medically accurate information,” said Chrissy Cmorik, lead sex educator for Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest. “Virginity is a social construction that is meant to keep women in their place. Very rarely does anyone talk about male virginity. It is almost always a term used to describe young women.”
Instead of focusing on the loaded term of “virginity”, extensive research has found that discussing abstinence and the various forms of birth control during sexual health classes are much more effective at helping teens take control of their reproductive health and make decisions that are right for them. In the long term, that means that excluding shaming words like “virginity” from her curriculum helps Cmorik’s students delay their first sexual experience, avoid unintended pregnancies, and reduce their chances of getting STDs. New Derek Carr Teammate on Saints Takes Shot at Raiders

Getty

Derek Carr with Josh McDaniels.

After a lackluster 2022 that saw Derek Carr post an 86.3 passer rating, the lowest since his rookie year in 2014, the Las Vegas Raiders decided to move on from the quarterback. He landed with the New Orleans Saints and has quickly impressed teammates. In nine years as a starter, Carr went 63-79 and never won a playoff game.
The Saints are hoping to change the losing ways in his first season in New Orleans. Tight Juwan Johnson believes that much of the losing was due to a lack of stability in coaching and on offense throughout the year for the Raiders.
“I feel like with Derek, there’s a lot of things you can do,” Johnson said in a June 28 interview with SiriusXM NFL Radio. “He’s been in an offense where he’s had Josh McDaniels, Jon Gruden, so he has a lot of that he can bring over to our offense. Obviously, we have a lot of pieces on our offense — which I think he’s probably never had before. So that’s something that he can use a little bit.
“So, a big credit to Pete — Pete’s been working his tail off this offseason. We’ve got some stuff in there that I’m like, ‘Pete, I’ve never seen this before, but I like it.’ So, I’m really excited for Pete going into Year Two. He’s been behind Sean for so long. So, he’s learned a lot and he’s ready to blow up now.”

Derek Carr Had Loaded Offense in 2022
For much of his career, Derek Carr did not have great offensive personnel to work with. However, that wasn’t the case in 2022. The Raiders already had a Pro Bowl wide receiver in Hunter Renfrow and then added Davante Adams, who many believe is the best wide receiver in the NFL. That’s not to mention the team had Darren Waller, who was the highest-paid tight end in the NFL, and the league’s leading rusher Josh Jacobs.
Carr had plenty of weapons to work with last season but had one of his worst seasons as a professional. The lack of consistency in coaching is certainly a valid excuse. Carr had six different head coaches during his time with the Raiders. If the Saints can keep a consistent coaching staff around Carr, that could be what he needs to play at a high level across multiple seasons.

Juwan Johnson Compares Derek Carr to Drew Brees
Since Drew Brees retired after the 2020 season, the Saints have missed the playoffs in back-to-back years. That was after four straight playoff berths led by Brees. The hope is that Derek Carr can bring back some stability at quarterback. Juwan Johnson does see some similarities between Brees and Carr.
“It honestly felt like we’ve been working with Derek for a while now, so OTAs was really good, really smooth,” Johnson said. “He’s giving me more of a feel — because he’s an older guy — he’s giving me a lot of Drew [Brees]. Going into the huddle, commanding the huddle, guys gravitating toward him — these are things [I saw from] how Drew conducted the offense and things like that.
“So, it’s giving me similar feels. And so I’m really excited about what Derek has and how he’s going to move this offense.” […]

Baseball-Sized Hail Wreaks Havoc on Million-Dollar 5.2 Megawatt Community Solar Project in Nebraska, Destroying Over 14,000 Solar Panels

On a not-so-sunny day in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, a 5.2 MW solar farm, part of the Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD’s) Sunwise program, was recently destroyed by a baseball-sized hailstorm. This incident underscores the vulnerability of green energy infrastructures to extreme weather conditions.
While hailed as the energy source of the future, solar energy’s path seems to be more than a little rocky.

The Scottsbluff 5.2MW Community Solar Farm, a multi-million dollar project that was launched in 2019, consisted of over 14,000 solar panels. The project, declared as a reliable source of clean and cheap energy, was expected to reduce the state’s carbon footprint and combat climate change.
“This project will help the city achieve its goal to reduce our carbon footprint and stabilize city costs for the next 25 years,” said Nathan D. Johnson, City Manager of Scottsbluff.
According to Cowboy State Daily, a hailstorm with estimated wind speeds of 100 to 150 mph destroyed a large portion of the multimillion-dollar project’s panels.

The entire region has experienced strong storms the past week, which included tornadoes, hail, heavy rains and wind.
A tornado destroyed at least one home in Scottsbluff. Much of the damage to the area was from high winds and hail, which brought down power lines, damaged trees and shattered windshields.
Kevin Spencer, Scottsbluff city manager, told Cowboy State Daily the Nebraska Public Power District, which owns the solar farm, is still assessing the damage, but it’s going to need some repairs.
“Just by looking at it, it looks destroyed to me,” Spencer said.
Spencer said there’s more to a solar farm than just the panels, and so some of the equipment at the farm might have survived the storm. He said he was previously told the panels were hail proof, but that might have meant hail up to a certain size.

Tim Newman, the regional Emergency Management Director, told the Scottsbluff Star-Herald last Saturday that a violent storm with a tornado and baseball-sized hail devastated the region last week.
CEO Dwight Patterson of GenPro Energy Solutions announced that business executives will meet with the solar farm owners and insurance evaluators on Thursday to assess the entire impact of the storm, Fox News report.
“Severe weather, like the storm that struck Scottsbluff, is a good example of why renewable energy providers and local electric utilities benefit from strong partnerships,” Patterson told Fox News Digital. “Forces that are sometimes out of our control could impact critical electric power delivery to homes, hospitals and critical infrastructure.”
Patterson said the Scottsbluff Community Solar Project employed top-tier solar panels that can resist most hail storms. He said hailstorms are unlikely to damage the panels, but always remain possible. […]

Orphaned and Trafficked J6 Defendant Faces Pretrial Imprisonment while America Prepares for Independence Day Celebration

Isaac Thomas was a voice for the voiceless on January 6, 2021
Isaac Thomas was just 18 years old when he attended his first political rally on January 6, 2021.
Orphaned at the age of 6, Thomas endured years of abuse and neglect — trafficked through various placements while in the custody of the Department of Health and Human Services.
Thomas emancipated himself at 16 and immediately engaged in political activism. Inspired to speak out for other victims of the failed foster care system from which he’d gained independence, he went to the United States Capitol to make their muffled voices heard.
Three years later, his medical privacy rights are under attack.
An in-person hearing in DC on Monday will determine whether Thomas is to await trial behind bars.

Department of Justice prosecuting attorneys now demand District Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly revoke Thomas’ pretrial release due to what they say is an “escalation of misbehavior and of a more troublesome nature.”
***HELP Defend Isaac Thomas by contributing HERE***
The United States Attorney’s Office must have been watching Reefer Madness while constructing their latest argument.
‘Reefer Madness” movie poster from 1936
The government says Thomas endangers “the safety of the community,” alleging he “has not provided documentation confirming he was prescribed marijuana by a licensed medical practitioner.”
Additionally, prosecutors argue Thomas “reportedly completed an assessment with Insight Behavioral Health in Flint, Michigan on 6/09/2023. However, this has not been verified as he has refused to sign a release of information for PSA.”
Isaac is now forced to drive to DC even though his car was recently totaled.

Legal Advocate Treniss Evans is disgusted:

“While the rest of the country gets ready for burgers and beer on Independence Day, Isaac Thomas, an orphan with no family who already suffered years of abuse in the Michigan foster care system, is headed to DC on a Greyhound Bus — likely to be placed in the gulag.”

***HELP those FIGHTING for Isaac’s freedom HERE***
Defense counsel says a government without principle is attacking the State of Michigan’s decision to give him a medical marijuana card.
Constitutionally, the federal government can’t second guess a State. Furthermore, a federal court may not review, in an appellate manner, a decision already made by a State.

“The only reason for inquiry is to use it as a dishonest excuse to rummage through private affairs OR to argue that Michigan got it wrong — that they shouldn’t have issued the card,” explains Legal Expert Jonathon Moseley, “Normally, there’s no general reason for the federal government to root around through someone’s medical records during pretrial.”
“The theory is that marijuana makes people a threat to society.”

Indeed, anyone familiar with marijuana would argue it’s more likely to leave the user docile — content to eat a few bags of Doritos while watching cartoons and playing video games.

The REAL reason the courts are freaking out about J6ers smoking pot. #idaddymusk @elonmusk pic.twitter.com/mZRYQeYTAQ
— Layman’s Terms (@terms1776) June 30, 2023

The government’s argument would be hilarious if it weren’t so damned deadly serious.
While public interest in the many trials of January 6th continues to fade, the Department of Justice presses forward with its malicious agenda of diminishing constitutional freedom — leaving J6 defendants like Isaac Thomas penniless in the process.

“I don’t know what’s worse,” questions Treniss Evans while leaving for work at his day job on Friday morning, “A Judge who’s attempting for no reason to dig into health records and undermine the sanity of a J6 defendant or a DOJ that’s incapable of differentiating between two completely different individuals before slapping a bunch of BS into the charging documents.”

***HELP the push to expose the lies of the DOJ HERE***
The insanity displayed in the District of Columbia leaves Treniss Evans scratching his head.

“A mental health evaluation needs to be done on these judges for not grasping facts that have been put forth,” Evans explains, “They’re all too giddy to endorse the crap from the J6 Select Committee, but when new evidence comes forward through defense filings, they can’t be bothered to look.”

& the DOJ evidence tampering strikes again!
In the charging documents for Isaac Thomas, the DOJ’s ‘identification’ of Thomas is questionable at best. They have included pictures of someone wearing a different set of clothing, AS Isaac.
Probably just a mistake, right? Just… pic.twitter.com/R1iv99xDaq
— Treniss Evans (@CondemnedUSA) June 30, 2023

“They’re out to extract more flesh —not even happy with just one pound,” Evans continues, “This District suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome, yet they feel qualified to question the mental health of those who believe in the constitution.”
“The inmates are running the asylum of DC,” Evans says, “The beatings will continue until morale improves.”

LEAK: Jack Smith Preparing to Hit Trump with 45 More Charges as ‘Back-Up Plan’ in Classified Documents Case

Another day, another leak.
Jack Smith is reportedly preparing to hit President Trump with 45 additional charges as a ‘backup plan’ should Judge Aileen Cannon, a Trump appointee, delay or thwart the classified documents case currently in the Southern District of Florida.
The additional charges are expected “in the coming weeks,” The Independent reported.

President Trump was recently indicted on 37 federal counts in a Florida court in Jack Smith’s classified documents case.

According to the latest leak, the special counsel’s prosecutors are preparing a “superseding indictment” – a separate set of charges against Trump in the Southern District of Florida.
Jack Smith’s prosecutors may also bring additional charges against Trump in a different venue if they feel Judge Aileen Cannon is being too fair to Trump.
This is the same theory that corrupt prosecutor Andrew Weissmann recently floated.
Trump was charged with 31 counts of willful retention of national defense information and 6 other process crimes stemming from his conversations with his lawyer.
Jack Smith however did not charge Trump with dissemination of the national defense information related to documents stored at his Bedminster, New Jersey golf club.
According to the indictment reviewed by this reporter, In July 2021, at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, NJ, during an audio-recorded meeting with a reporter and two staffers, Trump “showed and described a “plan of attack” that Trump said was prepared for him by the DoD and a senior military official.”
The Florida indictment did not include a charge for the so-called ‘Iran memo’ – so Jack Smith can hit Trump with charges in another venue outside of Florida.
The Independent reported:
The Department of Justice is prepared to seek indictments against multiple figures in former president Donald Trump’s orbit and may yet bring additional charges against the ex-president in the coming weeks, The Independent has learned.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the department has made preparations to bring what is known as a “superseding indictment” — a second set of charges against an already-indicted defendant that could include more serious crimes — against the ex-president in the Southern District of Florida.
But prosecutors may also choose to bring additional charges against Mr Trump in a different venue, depending on how they feel the case they have brought against him in is proceeding.
The Independent understands that prosecutors’ decision on whether to seek additional charges from a grand jury — and where to seek them — will depend in part on whether they feel the Trump-appointed district judge overseeing the case against him in the Southern District of Florida, Aileen Cannon, is giving undue deference to the twice-impeached, now twice-indicted former president. Brazilian President Lula Who Was Backed by Biden and the CIA Announces He Is Proud to Be Called a Communist and Socialist (VIDEO)

In 2022 the Biden regime and Deep State worked to overthrow popular populist President Jair Bolsonaro in Brazil and make way for the communist Lula to return to office.
They started their preparations in 2021 when Joe Biden’s National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan warned Brazil’s President Bolsonaro not to mess with voting machines in the upcoming election.

There is no paper trail in Brazil’s elections, only voting machines. Jair Bolsonaro saw millions of supporters come out to his rallies. Lula, the communist felon, could not match Bolsonaro’s popularity. But in a twist of fate, Lula won on election day. Amazing! Where have we seen this before?

Following the suspicious election MILLIONS of Bolsonaro supporters protested in the streets of every major city for months. The international media ignored these protests for some reason. Lula was then inaugurated in January after the military failed to protect the country from the communist threat.
In January thousands of Bolsonaro supporters stormed government buildings in Brazilia. Several violent communist protesters were later identified as paid activists.
Over a thousand protesters were locked up in an arena following the protests without trial. Just like we do in America under Joe Biden!
Since he entered office, Lula has worked tirelessly to reestablish relations with fellow Marxist regimes in the hemisphere. He invited failed Marxist Venezuelan dictator Maduro to Brazil and he went to prop up the communist regime in Cuba.
Earlier this week Brazilian President Lula da Silva announced he is a proud communist and socialist.
This is who the Biden regime and our CIA supported into office.

Supreme Court Trolls Nancy Pelosi in Decision Striking Down Biden’s $400 Billion Student Loan Scheme – Conservatives Respond with Glee (VIDEO)

The Supreme Court on Friday struck down Joe Biden’s student loan scheme, ruling that he overstepped his authority. The decision was 6-3 with Roberts writing for the majority.
As Cristina Laila previously reported, Biden canceled over $400 billion in student loans which turns out to be up to $10,000 in student debt for borrowers who earn $125,000 a year or less and up to $20,000 for recipients of Pell Grants.
Six Republican state attorneys general sued Joe Biden and argued the student loan bailout violates the separation of powers. Separately, two borrowers who did not qualify for Joe Biden’s student loan forgiveness plan sued to stop the program.

The 8th US Circuit Court of Appeals in November extended a block on Joe Biden’s student loan bailout plan. The DOJ then asked the Supreme Court to lift the 8th Circuit Court’s block, which they refused to do.

While doing away with Biden’s attempted bribe of Gen Z/Millennial voters, the Supreme Court managed to troll Nancy Pelosi in the process.

NYT Reveals How Desperate Bud Light Really Is – Will It Ever Recover?

For the past 20 years, Bud Light was the top-selling beer in the United States — until this spring, when sales tumbled following a harebrained marketing decision to use transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney to promote the brand.
The New York Times captured the current state of Bud Light in an article Thursday headlined “Cheaper Than Water? Retailers Try to Unload Bud Light.”
The stock of Bud Light manufacturer Anheuser-Busch InBev has crashed more than 15 percent since early April, the report said. Last month, Modelo Especial replaced Bud Light as the top-selling beer in the U.S.
Indeed, some industry experts say the damage to the brand has been so calamitous that it might never recover.
Andy Wagner, the manager of Glenn Miller’s Beer & Soda Warehouse in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, said Bud Light sales at his distribution center have tanked 45 percent since April.

“At this point, it’s cheaper than some of the cases of water we’re selling in the back,” Wagner told the Times. “It’s just not moving like it used to.”
Bud Light is struggling to win back once-loyal customers after being steamrolled by a crushing conservative boycott.
According to Wagner, Anheuser-Busch made a fatal error when it broke longstanding “bar rules” of avoiding politics and religion in its marketing.
“It’s not that [customers] stopped drinking beer,” he said. “They just stopped buying Bud Light.”
Wagner also said it’s possible that Bud Light might never recover some of its lost customers in the wake of the Mulvaney debacle.
“I’ve seen longtime Bud Light customers trying other beers,” he said. “If they find something they like, they may not come back.”
Other industry experts agree that the damage Bud Light did when it cavalierly used a man pretending to be a woman to promote its beer could have long-term consequences beyond just this summer.
At the moment, Bud Light is being decimated during the critical summer sales season — May through August — which makes up as much as 40 percent of annual beer sales.
“Here we are about 10 weeks into it, and we’re still seeing double-digit declines in volumes nationally,” beverage industry consultant Bump Williams told the Times. “This is no longer an anomaly. This is a trend of concern.”
Anheuser-Busch is so desperate to staunch the bleeding that it’s giving away $10,000 a week as part of its “Easy to Summer” campaign.
Over the Fourth of July weekend, it’s also offering $15 rebates on a 15-pack of Bud Light and Budweiser.

This made me laugh. Bud Light is offering a $15 rebate (94% off) on their 18 pack for 4th of July. #GoWokeGoBroke pic.twitter.com/Z0u4WtHxLt
— Olivia (@Liv_e_t) June 23, 2023

Since a 15-pack sells for less than $15 in many areas of the country, that amounts to giving the beer away.
Who would have thought that a mega-corporation would be so desperate that it’s having trouble giving away beer in the summer at a time when grocery prices are at historic highs?
Oh, how the mighty have fallen.
