Raiders Sign Former Saints Leading WR to Contract

Getty

New Las Vegas Raiders WR Marquez Callaway.

The Las Vegas Raiders love wide receivers. They kept six on the active roster and are set to have another three on the practice squad.According to an August 30 post on Twitter/X by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Raiders are signing former New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marquez Callaway to the practice squad.

Free agent receiver Marquez Callaway will be signing with the #Raiders practice squad, per source. Waived by Denver this week, Callaway had 1,069 yards and seven touchdowns with the New Orleans since 2020.
— Jeremy Fowler (@JFowlerESPN) August 31, 2023
Callaway joins wide receivers Devin Ross and Antoine Wesley on the practice squad. However, he should have a bit of a leg up on them. He’s been in the NFL since 2020 when he was an undrafted free agent of the Saints. He spent three years with the team and was their leading receiver in 2021 with 698 yards. He hasn’t replicated that success in subsequent years as he only had 158 receiving yards last season. Callaway signed with the Denver Broncos in free agency but wasn’t able to break through and make their active roster. The Raiders have plenty of wide receiver talent on the active roster but having a veteran like Callaway on the practice squad gives them some good depth in case of injury, especially with Phillip Dorsett heading to Denver.Josh McDaniels Talks Kristian Wilkerson Making RosterOne of the big surprises of training camp was Kristian Wilkerson. The veteran wide receiver didn’t play last season due to injury but was able to land with the Raiders this offseason. He has previously worked with Josh McDaniels on the New England Patriots in 2020 and 2021 but had to beat out veterans like Keelan Cole and Phillip Dorsett. He was able to make it happen and is now on the active roster. McDaniels praised Wilkerson for the work he has put in this offseason.“K-Wilks [Kristian Wilkerson] worked really hard since I’ve known him,” McDaniels said during his August 30 media availability. “He had an injury last year, it was kind of an unfortunate situation, and in training camp last year, where he kind of didn’t really have an opportunity to have a season last year. So, I think he’s worked really hard to put himself in position to compete this year in camp, and I thought he did some good things in the summer. I thought he did some good things in the games, competed hard, and not only on offense, but in the kicking game as well.”The Raiders have a deep wide receiver room, which made things a lot more difficult for the team’s decision-makers.“That room was very competitive,” McDaniels said. “It was probably one of the more competitive rooms we’ve had in the two years we’ve been here – tough decisions, and just felt like he had done enough to really earn an opportunity.”Josh McDaniels Explains Decision to Keep 3 QBsLast season, the Raiders only kept Derek Carr and Jarrett Stidham as the quarterbacks on the active roster to start the year. This season, the team is keeping three between Jimmy Garoppolo, Aidan O’Connell and Brian Hoyer. Josh McDaniels explained what went into that decision.“No, I mean not really. It was to go with three, and not for any specific reason other than we felt like we had three guys that were capable of being roster players,” McDaniels said. “Aidan [O’Connell] has obviously got a lot of developing in front of him, Brian has played plenty of football, and obviously we’re excited about Jimmy [Garoppolo]. So, feel like we’ve got a good room.” […]

Viktor Hovland’s Tour Championship win most-watched telecast since Tiger Woods’ improbable victory in 2018

Even though Viktor Hovland did not let Xander Schauffele get any closer than three strokes on Sunday, his Tour Championship victory produced staggering numbers for CBS.
In a memo distributed Tuesday, CBS Sports announced that its final round coverage of the 2023 Tour Championship averaged 4.613 million viewers.
It scored the most-watched telecast of this event since 2018.
Of course, Tiger Woods won the Tour Championship in 2018 in emphatic fashion, marking his first PGA Tour victory in five years.

Woods’ victory in 2018 drew 7.202 million viewers, a staggering number since that tournament competed alongside NFL football in the Sunday afternoon window.
But since then, the PGA Tour adjusted its season so that the FedEx Cup playoffs wrap up before football begins.
Even so, Hovland’s victory produced impressive numbers, especially considering he held a six-shot lead going into the final round.
A 1-hour, 53-minute weather delay also halted play Sunday afternoon, which is never a good sign for broadcast numbers. Typically, television viewers will go elsewhere—or abandon watching the coverage altogether whenever play is suspended.
Yet, the CBS broadcast on Sunday peaked at 5.510 million viewers.
The early round telecast, impacted the most by the severe thunderstorms, still drew 2.330 million observers.

The impressive numbers that CBS drew may result from Hovland’s rising popularity. Golf fans everywhere seem to love the 25-year-old Norwegian, who has an infectious smile and a carefree personality.
That seemed to be the case in Atlanta, too, as fans flocked to Hovland from Wednesday to Sunday, hoping to catch a glimpse of one of the hottest players in the world.
Hovland won the BMW Championship and then the Tour Championship to claim the FedEx Cup, the PGA Tour’s season-long prize. He earned over $32 million from these two victories alone.
CBS Sports had a pretty good season as well. The network averaged 2.206 million viewers for its 42 PGA Tour telecasts, up 1% from 2022.

Parents File Civil Rights Lawsuit Against Michigan School District Over Bathrooms Based on ‘Gender Identity’

A group of Michigan parents have filed a civil rights lawsuit against Vicksburg Community Schools for allowing students and staff to use bathrooms based on their “gender identity.”
The 37-page federal lawsuit accuses the district of Title IX and civil rights violations, according to a report from local station WWMT.
According to the report, school officials told children not to embarrass the biological male student but to “tolerate it, look away and not bully them.”
The parents argue that the policy is discriminatory and deprives their daughters of privacy.
The lawsuit claims that girls have been forced to watch biological boys strip naked.

“We used to joke with our kids, we loved Vicksburg Public Schools so much we wanted to have a third just to send them through the school system, but our decision may be changing a bit based on some of the decisions in our district,” a woman identified only as “Heather” said at a school board meeting earlier this month, according to the report. She is the mother of a Vicksburg graduate, high schooler, and first grader.
Her opinion of the district changed after she was informed by one of her children that male students were using the girls’ bathrooms.
“Many female students are using the bathroom only one time a day out of fear and anxiety that a male student could be using the bathroom with them,” Heather said.
Matthew DePerno, who represents the families, told the station that the school district is not being transparent about the policy.
“The principal told them there is nothing they can do about it,” DePerno said. “The issue was settled and told the students to make the best of the situation.”
“The biological males who want to use the girls’ restrooms, in other school districts they are denied that and provided with a unisex bathroom to use,” DePerno continued.
The district claims that they are following the state law and federal guidance. […]

Kidnappers Caught in the Act: Heroic Truck Driver Rescues “Approximately 15” Children Trapped in Padlocked Cages in the Back of Pickup Truck (VIDEO)

In a spine-chilling incident, a vigilant truck driver, who goes by the name Michael, became a hero by alerting authorities about a deeply unsettling situation.
Michael was parked in a rest area off I-10 in a border state when he witnessed a pick-up truck pull up nearby. A man and woman proceeded to unlock a padlocked cage beneath a tarp in the back of the truck, from which they released several children.
According to the video uploaded by the truck driver, the kidnappers were seen ushering the children into and out of a bathroom at the rest area before locking them back into the cage.
“I’m sitting at a rest area. This truck pulls up, opens up the back. It’s like a cage-looking thing… That guy and this lady have a whole bunch of kids in the back of that truck… And then they take the padlock off, raise the tarp, and all these kids come out the back, and they’re forcing them into the bathroom,” Michael said.

“When they coming back out, they were pushing the kids back in there, locked them back in there, and pulled the f-cking tarp down.”
The truck driver’s instincts kicked in as he noticed the children were being pushed into the bathroom and then locked back into padlocked cages under a tarp in the back of the pick-up truck. Recognizing that something was wrong, he decided to call 911.
“I called 911… I don’t know what’s going on. I’m not real big on calling the cops, but when it comes to kids and their safety and with all this human trafficking and all this crap going on in the world, not cool. So I call the cops just to be on the safe side,” Michael added.
The truck driver describes how the kidnappers started to take off when they saw him on the phone.
“They see me on the phone. They’re watching me in the mirror the whole time. They f-cking take off,” said Michael.
“The cops on the phone with me told me to follow them as close as you can, as much as you can until we get units out,” he said. Despite not being able to keep up with the fleeing vehicle due to his truck’s limitations, he managed to provide valuable information that enabled law enforcement to locate and stop the kidnappers.
“They finally caught up to them because I couldn’t keep up with them. My truck only goes seven. They catch up to them, they pull them over,” Michael recounted. Child services were subsequently called to the scene.

Michael stated in an interview with Mutha Trucker that there were approximately 15 children trapped within the cage.
“In the article, it said that you thought you saw, like, three or four kids, and then they didn’t really give a number. But was it more than ten because they made it sound like it was a lot.”
“It was about 15, I would say,” Michael said.

Earlier this month, the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) named truck driver Michael a “Highway Angel” for his heroic rescue of caged children.
Highway Angel reported:
The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) has named truck driver Michael (his full name and hometown have been excluded to protect his identity) a TCA Highway Angel for discovering, turning in and chasing human traffickers with multiple children in a cage in the back of a pickup truck.
Michael said the little girls that he saw were no older than three or four years old. When the two adults and little girls came back out of the bathroom, the driver of the pickup forced the kids back into the cage, locked it, and covered the cage in a tarp. Michael called the police, and was able to walk around in the dark to read the truck’s license plate. Somehow the two adults in the pickup truck must have noticed him, because they took off quickly in the truck. Michael followed them.
Michael also pulled over and waited till the police were ready to speak with him to get his statement. Police told Michael that “this kind of thing happens all the time”, several of the children had been reported missing, and that there were even more children in the cage. “In the cage, there were hammocks with kids draped across the top,” Michael said, “and the entire bottom of the cage was filled with children.”
Police also told him for his own protection he should depart, in case anyone affiliated with the human traffickers was watching. The father of two young children (including a little girl) Michael was emotionally distraught after the nightmarish discovery.
“It’s really scary,” he said.
Since the TCA Highway Angels program’s inception in August 1997, nearly 1,300 professional truck drivers have been recognized as Highway Angels for exemplary kindness, courtesy, and courage displayed while on the job. Thanks to the program’s presenting sponsor, EpicVue, and supporting sponsor, DriverFacts, TCA is able to showcase outstanding drivers like Michael. […]

Breaking: Mitch McConnell Freezes Up Again, Press Conference Cut Short (Video)

81 years-old Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) froze up on Wednesday for the second time in about a month while speaking to reporters. McConnell was holding a press conference in Covington, Kentucky when he zoned out and became unresponsive when asked a question about his running for reelection in 2026. An aide approached McConnell and asked if he heard the question as McConnell stood mute with his eyes wide open. McConnell appeared to recover after a few seconds and the aide tried to continue the press conference. But it was soon clear McConnell was not well enough to continue.

McConnell suffered a concussion and a broken bone after a fall in March. He was hospitalized and did a stint in rehab before returning to the Senate in mid April.
Video was posted by WLWT-TV reporter Hannah Thomas:

Hurricane Idalia Makes Landfall as Category 3 Storm in Florida – Massive Storm Surge in Cedar Key, Florida (VIDEO)

Hurricane Idalia made landfall north of Cedar Key, Florida, as a major Category 3 hurricane on Wednesday morning, bringing with it a significant storm surge that has inundated the island community.
After more than 125 years, Idalia is the strongest hurricane to hit the Big Bend area. Florida’s Big Bend region, where the Florida peninsula meets the panhandle, is particularly vulnerable to hurricane impacts.
The landfall occurred near Keaton Beach, approximately 75 miles southwest of Tallahassee, the capital city of Florida. With maximum sustained winds of 125 miles per hour, the hurricane caused heavy damage as it brought strong winds, heavy rain, and dangerous flooding to the region.
The storm surge along the coast of Florida’s Big Bend region reached alarming levels, posing a significant threat to the affected communities.

The National Hurricane Center (NHC) had forecast a storm surge of 10 to 15 feet for Cedar Key, and early reports indicate that the surge has reached or exceeded those levels. The surge has overwhelmed coastal defenses, flooding streets, and buildings, and leaving residents stranded in their homes.
Images and videos from the area show streets and homes flooded, and other debris floating in the water.

Arizona Firm Operated by Arizona House Speaker Ben Toma’s Brother Acquires Majority Stake in Runbeck Election Services – Company Runs Early Voting in Maricopa County

Arizona House Speaker Ben Toma
An Arizona investment firm closely linked to Arizona House Speaker Ben Toma has acquired a majority stake in Runbeck Election Services, the third-party company that is contracted for mail-in ballots in Maricopa County elections.
Toma has come under fire in the past when it was discovered that Runbeck President And COO Jeff Ellington chairs a company affiliated with Toma’s Family.
The Gateway Pundit previously reported on the shady connection between Runbeck and Ben Toma in the aftermath of the stolen Arizona midterm election that was riddled with corruption.
Many questions surround what really goes on at the secretive far-left private company that is running elections in Maricopa County.
Runbeck could currently be facing potential legal action from Arizona legislators over a refusal to comply with public records requests related to a legislative investigation. Kari Lake’s attorneys are also suing Runbeck for public records related to Lake’s lawsuit against the stolen election. However, State Rep. Alex Kolodin says he is “cautiously optimistic” that this will no longer be needed.

Runbeck Election Services in Phoenix Defies Public Records Request in Ongoing Investigation by Arizona Legislators – Subpoenas May be Issued

Arizona Daily Independent reports:
Lincoln Shields, a subsidiary of Black Mountain Investment Company, acquired a majority stake in Runbeck Election Services on August 18, 2023, according to their recent announcement. The transaction will provide Runbeck with a capital infusion the company says will allow it to expand its services and offerings.
Black Mountain is an Arizona based investment firm involved in a number of different sectors of the economy. Its CEO is Mihai Toma, whose family escaped the communists in Romania. Toma’s brother Ben serves as Arizona’s Speaker of the House, and has been a vocal advocate for election integrity measures, including several he introduced himself to improve both the transparency and accountability of Arizona’s elections process. Both Speaker Toma and Senate President Warren Petersen have also supported the legal challenges launched by 2022 Attorney General nominee Abe Hamadeh.
“This is obviously good news for election reformers, because you’ve got this family that knows what the radical left is all about, and they are going to be in a position to safeguard and hopefully improve an important part of the election process.” said one excited Arizona election observer. “Imagine how bad you would feel if George Soros bought the company. Now flip it 180 degrees because the opposite just happened. That’s how good you should feel.”
Arizona State Rep Alex Kolodin, who is leading the charge in obtaining elections records from Runbeck, told The Gateway Pundit, “I am cautiously optimistic about the potential for this change in ownership to translate into meaningful actions that make Runbeck’s processes more transparent and secure.”
Republican voters and politicians must leverage Toma’s involvement in the company and push him to clean Runbeck up. However, this could mean Arizona never gets rid of mail-in ballots.

BREAKING: Georgia Political Prisoner Harrison Floyd Finally Given Bond!

Harrison Floyd, the former director Black Voices for Trump, was one of the indicted in Fulton County, Georgia last week over alleged RICO charges in the Trump et al case, charges usually reserved for violent crimes and criminal enterprises.  Floyd, a Marine Corps veteran, was the only one of the indicted that was denied bail and remanded to the Fulton County prison.  At least 23 people have died in the Fulton County prison in the last 4 years, including one man who died earlier this year from malnourishment and complications from bed bug bites.
In February 2023, Floyd was accused of “body slamming” a federal agent when two FBI agents sought to issue him a subpoena at his apartment as he was walking up stairs carrying his daughter after her swim practice.  Floyd claims the agents never showed him identification and threw the subpoena in his house after he walked inside.  He then came back out and confronted them about their visit claiming they never showed in any identification.  This is when the alleged chest bump occurred.  The agents left without arresting Floyd.  Floyd called the Rockville PD after the agents left.  Rockville Police showed up to investigate a burglary.
Floyd denies touching the agents and the only known media is “audio” documenting the sound of footsteps up the stairs as evidence.  Floyd called the police to report the two men.  Rockville Police showed up to investigate.  The criminal complaint then states that “later that evening, Floyd was charged with second degree assault, CR 3-203 in the District Court of Maryland for Montgomery County.  Floyd was arrested that night by Montgomery County Police Department and your affiant (FBI).”  Floyd would finally be arrested 8 hours after the incident by the third law enforcement agency that encountered him.
Sources claim that the Second Degree Assault charges have been dropped in lieu of a Misdemeanor Obstruction charge.  It is not clear if the federal or state charges were dropped and replaced.

Floyd is also being indicted in the case involving President Trump for asking a person questions over the phone while the person was willingly at a police station to answer questions.  Trevian Kutti was physically present at the police station in Cobb County while Floyd responded over the phone.
Kutti was also indicted and released on bail.
