Nvidia and MediaTek may unveil jointly developed ‘N1’ Arm chips for Windows PCs at Computex

Nvidia and MediaTek are expected to introduce their jointly developed Arm-based processors for PCs at Computex 2025, according to ComputerBase. The upcoming chips — N1X and N1 — are aimed at desktops and laptops and mark Nvidia’s deeper entry into the Windows-on-Arm ecosystem. However, retail availability may be delayed until 2026 due to unresolved technical hurdles, reports Heise, citing SemiAccurate.CEOs of both companies — Jensen Huang from Nvidia and Rick Tsai from MediaTek — are scheduled to deliver back-to-back presentations at the Computex trade show in Taipei, Taiwan, on May 19 and May 20, respectively. One likely announcement is a new family of processors combining MediaTek’s Arm-based CPU with Nvidia’s Blackwell GPU. The collaborative products will rely on the companies’ technologies to build the GB10 platform for compact AI workstations.Through its partnership with MediaTek, Nvidia hopes to address markets that are currently served by AMD’s APUs with high-performance Radeon graphics as well as Arm-based Snapdragon X processors. Nvidia’s discrete Blackwell GPUs promise to offer higher performance and better compatibility with games than AMD’s Radeon and Qualcomm’s Adreno, so without any doubt, it will attract the attention of gamers.According to early reports, the N1X and N1 processors are expected to feature up to 10 Cortex-X925 high-performance cores and up to 10 Cortex-A725 cores, though less powerful CPU configurations will likely be introduced to address markets currently underserved by Qualcomm and its Snapdragon X processors as well as AMD’s Ryzen APUs with built-in Radeon graphics processors. To support the production of an unknown high-volume product, MediaTek has reportedly secured a large amount of packaging capacity for flip chip ball grid array (FCBGA) chips, which implies their use in PCs rather than mobile devices. According to DigiTimes, this capacity reservation occurred around the end of 2024 and was unusually large. However, it remains unclear if the packaging timeline aligns with the initial production of processors jointly designed by MediaTek and Nvidia.Despite the enthusiasm surrounding processors by MediaTek and Nvidia, the actual launch timeline remains uncertain. Multiple sources reported that development issues could significantly postpone the commercial rollout of systems based on the new processors. Some projections suggest that these delays could push the release into 2026, but for now, there is no confirmation on those rumors.Get Tom’s Hardware’s best news and in-depth reviews, straight to your inbox. Dell lists a hot deal with $400 off this RTX 5080 Alienware gaming PC

As one of the biggest PC builders in the US, Dell offers some great deals now and then as they put certain PC, laptop, and monitor models on short sales cycles. Having recently released the Alienware Area-51 machine with 50-series GPUs from Nvidia, the older Aurora models were left behind. Now we’re seeing these slightly older case designs get an injection of more recent hardware to bring them up a level. There are some niggles, in that this machine uses some proprietary parts which can cause upgrade headaches in the future, but if that’s not a concern for you, then this deal is spot on.Save $400 on the Dell Alienware Aurora gaming PC (RTX 5080), going for $2,470 after the discount. The previously listed price was $2,870 for this machine. There are also ways to bring this sale price down even lower, with coupon offers and a 10% discount code when you register on the Dell website or sign up for emails. But these can sometimes be a little temperamental, so give them a try before you buy, and you could get this machine for as low as $2,223.The upgraded components list for this Alienware Aurora gaming PC includes the powerful Nvidia RTX 5080 GPU with 16GB of superfast GDDR7 VRAM, an Intel Core Ultra 285 CPU with 24 cores, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, and 1TB of PCIe NVMe SSD storage for your operating system and games. Keeping the CPU cool is a 240mm AIO liquid cooler, and handling power requirements is a beefy 1000W Platinum-rated power supply.I would like to see Dell incorporate some of their more powerful gaming PC’s with AMD’s Ryzen X3D processors, such as the 9800X3D, but the Intel Core Ultra 285 is still a very capable CPU, and also functions very well in multi-threaded applications outside of gaming.Don’t forget to look at our Dell coupon codes for May 2025 and see if you can save on today’s deal or other products at Dell.Follow Tom’s Hardware on Google News to get our up-to-date news, analysis, and reviews in your feeds. OUTRAGEOUS: Lawless Biden Judge Orders Trump Administration to Admit Roughly 12,000 Potentially Dangerous ‘Refugees’ into America

U.S. District Court Judge Jamal Whitehead. Credit: American Association of People with Disabilities
Another black-robed tyrant has usurped President Trump’s lawful immigration authorities in a fit of anger and arrogance.
As the Associated Press reported, U.S. District Judge Jamal Whitehead, a Biden judge from Seattle, on Monday ordered the Trump administration to admit around 12,000 refugees into America under a court order partially barring the president’s attempts to suspend the nation’s refugee admissions program. At the same time, he ignored the possibility that these refugees could pose a threat to America.
“This Court will not entertain the Government’s result-oriented rewriting of a judicial order that clearly says what it says,” Whitehead wrote Monday. “The Government is free, of course, to seek further clarification from the Ninth Circuit.”
“But the Government is not free to disobey statutory and constitutional law — and the direct orders of this Court and the Ninth Circuit — while it seeks such clarification,” he added.

This means that American lives are now potentially in danger thanks to this rogue judge’s ruling.
The Gateway Pundit reported back in February that Whitehead blocked Trump’s attempts to stop the federal refugee resettlement program, which has been abused for years by Democrat administrations and refugees themselves.
In his ruling, Whitehead said that Trump’s actions were an “effective nullification of congressional will” in setting up the nation’s refugee admissions program.

“The president has substantial discretion … to suspend refugee admissions,” Whitehead stated. “But that authority is not limitless.”
In March, a three-judge panel for the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals blocked Whitehead’s February order that would have forced the Trump Administration to restart refugee admissions. Trump was allowed to continue with his pause on all new refugee admissions.
The administration was still required to process the approval of refugees before January 20. The ruling noted that Trump’s executive order had nothing to do with those refugees.

The plaintiffs involved in this garbage lawsuit include the International Refugee Assistance Project, the Jewish refugee resettlement agency HIAS, Lutheran Community Services Northwest, and individual refugees and family members. They claimed that unless Trump’s order were reversed, they would have great difficulty providing services to refugees.
Trump lawyers, though, have rightfully pointed out that the president had explicit constitutional authority to deny entry to foreign nationals who, if allowed into the country, “would be detrimental to the interests of the United States.”
In January, President Donald Trump signed Executive Order 14155, titled “Realigning the United States Refugee Admissions Program,” which suspended the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) effective January 27, 2025.
This order stopped refugees from entering America and barred federal funding to organizations assisting refugees, including those already in the country. The suspension will remain in effect until a determination is made that resuming the program is aligned with U.S. interests. […]

Update: AfD Demands New Elections After Merz Fails to Win Chancellorship Vote

CDU leader Friedrich Merz and AfD’s Alice Weidel
The German political establishment was dealt a historic blow this week as Friedrich Merz, leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), failed to secure enough votes in the Bundestag to become Chancellor. The result shattered decades of political precedent and sent shockwaves through a fragile ruling elite already out of step with growing public anger.
Merz, a longtime proponent of the so-called “firewall” policy against the populist Alternative für Deutschland (AfD), received just 310 votes in Monday’s secret ballot, falling six short of the 316 required for an absolute majority, the German newspaper Junge Freiheit reported.

This marks the first time in postwar German history that a candidate failed to secure the chancellorship on the first vote after coalition talks. The CDU and its coalition partner, the increasingly unpopular Social Democratic Party (SPD), control 328 seats, but internal dissent appears to be unraveling the bloc from within.
AfD co-leader Alice Weidel swiftly responded, calling the vote “a good day for Germany.” In a statement, she declared: “Merz is the first chancellor candidate of the Federal Republic of Germany to fail in the first round of voting. This clearly shows how weak and unstable the CDU-SPD pact really is—a pact already rejected by the people at the ballot box.”

Weidel continued, “Merz should resign immediately and clear the way for new elections. The old parties have failed. It’s time for a government that puts Germany first.”

“Als AfD sind wir angetreten, dieses Land vom Kopf auf die Füße zu stellen. Wir sind bereit für die Regierungsverantwortung. Und fordern dazu auf, Vernunft walten zu lassen. Herr #Merz sollte sofort abtreten. Es sollte der Weg geöffnet werden für Neuwahlen in unserem Land!” pic.twitter.com/gzZochF5p5
— Alice Weidel (@Alice_Weidel) May 6, 2025
Merz’s defeat comes after months of backroom negotiations with the SPD to form what critics have called a “zombie coalition”—a last-ditch alliance to keep the AfD out of power. Rather than addressing the issues driving AfD’s surge in the polls—mass immigration, economic mismanagement, energy failures, and loss of national sovereignty—Merz doubled down on excluding the AfD, even as his party hemorrhaged public support.
Inside the Bundestag, CDU members were reportedly stunned. German outlet Bild described “visible confusion” among CDU lawmakers, with some pushing for a hasty second vote while others feared another humiliating loss.

Meanwhile, AfD members openly celebrated in the chamber—a reflection of the party’s growing momentum. Recent polls place the AfD ahead of the CDU nationwide, as more Germans lose faith in the traditional parties they see as puppets of Brussels and Berlin’s technocratic elite.

Merz, a former asset manager and corporate insider with deep ties to globalist think tanks, has so far refused to acknowledge the message sent by the vote. No official statement was issued by him after the defeat. Journalist Hans-Ulrich Jörges told Welt TV, “Merz is deeply shocked and sitting in a chair somewhere,” underscoring the uncertainty now gripping Germany’s political class.
According to the German Constitution, a second vote must take place within 14 days. If no candidate gains an absolute majority, a third round will allow the Bundestag to elect a chancellor by simple plurality, but the president could also dissolve parliament and trigger a snap election.

The stock market quickly responded to the instability, with Germany’s DAX index falling 2% by midday. Economists tied to the SPD warned of long-term damage to investor confidence, although others argue the real danger is the continuation of policies that have hollowed out the German middle class.
Calls are growing louder for the CDU to abandon its isolationist stance toward the AfD and embrace the party’s role as the primary opposition voice against a ruling elite increasingly seen as disconnected from ordinary Germans.
Political commentator Ben Brechtken wrote on X, “Germany cannot be governed on this basis. The Conservatives must now talk to the AfD — at least to exert pressure.”

Auf dieser Basis kann man Deutschland nicht regieren. Die Union muss jetzt mit der AfD sprechen. Mindestens als Druckmittel.
— Ben Brechtken (@ben_brechtken) May 6, 2025
The AfD has made clear it is ready to lead. “We are prepared to take responsibility,” Weidel stated. “The people have had enough of empty promises and elite self-preservation. It’s time to return power to the citizens.”
With the next vote pending and Merz’s credibility in freefall, the pressure is mounting. The firewall policy—once the sacred pillar of establishment politics—may soon collapse under the weight of its own hypocrisy. And as Germany faces mounting crises at home and abroad, voters may finally have a chance to chart a new course.
One thing is clear: The old order is crumbling. And the AfD is waiting in the wings. […]

CBP agriculture specialists working at area ports ensure Mother’s Day flowers are disease and pest free

EL PASO, Texas — U.S. Customs and Border Protection agriculture specialists working at El Paso area ports of entry are busy this week making sure that personal and commercial importations of Mother’s Day flowers are free from insects, pests and diseases that could harm the agricultural and floral industries of the United States. Mother’s Day is observed in Mexico on Saturday, May 10. The U.S. observance is Sunday, May 11.“This is always one of the busiest weeks of the year for CBP agriculture specialists. Typically, we note an increase in the number of floral imports arriving at area ports of entry,” said CBP Director of Field Operations in El Paso Hector Mancha. “Vigilant CBP agriculture specialists are hard at work making certain that any imported floral arrangements are free from insects, pests, and disease. The public can help by declaring all agricultural products they are importing.”

This time of year, sees a surge in flower imports that can pose a risk to American agriculture by bringing in pests and diseases. To protect U.S. crops and the environment, certain flowers, plants, and soil are not allowed to cross the border. These restrictions are in place to prevent the spread of invasive species and plant-related illnesses that can damage crops and result in expensive containment efforts and limits on exports.

CBP agriculture specialists meticulously examine all flowers and plant materials entering the United States. This thorough inspection process involves physically shaking the flowers to dislodge any hidden insects and carefully using magnifying glasses and microscopes to detect the presence of pests and diseases. When pests or diseases are found, CBP sends them to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where experts employ digital imagery and other advanced technologies to accurately identify them.

While many flowers like roses and carnations are allowed entry after inspection, one commonly imported restricted flower is the Chrysanthemum, which is banned from entering the U.S. through passenger ports when brought in from Mexico. This measure helps stop the spread of harmful fungi such as Chrysanthemum White Rust, a disease that could seriously affect domestic flower producers.

Certain bouquet fillers can also be problematic. For instance, Murraya (also known as orange jasmine) can carry the Asian citrus psyllid, a pest that threatens citrus crops. If any bouquet includes infested greenery, the entire arrangement will be seized at the border.

Plants meant for growing must have the proper permits, and soil from Mexico is not permitted due to the risk of soilborne pests. All travelers must declare any plants or flowers to CBP officers upon arrival. Even though harmful pests are found in only a small percentage of inspected flowers, just one invasive species could lead to extensive crop damage.

CBP advises travelers planning to bring in flowers, plant materials, and other agricultural products to visit the Bringing Agricultural Products Into the United States page before traveling abroad.

To avoid potential civil or criminal penalties and help prevent the introduction of pests and diseases into the U.S. ecosystem, travelers should always declare everything they acquired abroad to CBP officers and CBP agriculture specialists. More information on prohibited and restricted items can be found on Know Before You Go Guide.

Stay informed about border crossing conditions by checking real-time Border Wait Times. For added convenience on the go, you can also download the BWT app on your smartphone through the Apple App Store or Google Play. This information is updated every hour to help you plan your trip. […]

Former Raiders coach taking on roles with arena football team

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Jon Gruden is getting back into professional football.
The former NFL coach is joining the Nashville Kats of the Arena Football One league as both a part-owner and what the club called “consulting and advisory roles in all aspects of the team’s football and business operations.”
Gruden, 61, hasn’t been involved in a U.S. professional team in an official capacity since resigning as head coach of the Raiders midway through the 2021 season over emails he sent before being hired that included racist, homophobic and misogynistic comments. Gruden did some consulting with the New Orleans Saints in 2023 but did not officially join the staff.

The Super Bowl-winning coach later filed a lawsuit against the NFL, claiming contract interference and conspiracy. A three-justice panel of the Nevada Supreme Court sided 2-1 with the NFL last year, ruling the league could force the civil case out of state court and into private arbitration that might be overseen by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell.
Gruden appealed the decision, and the lawsuit will not be reviewed by the full seven-person court.
The Gruden family has deep ties to the AFL. Jon’s younger brother, Jay, won four league titles as a player and two more as a coach in the 1990s and early 2000s before eventually moving on to a coaching career in the NFL.
The Nashville Kats, who announced Gruden’s partnership on Monday, have an ownership group that includes former Tennessee Titans head coach Jeff Fisher, who also serves as the Kats’ president.
“I have been a fan of indoor football for a long time and jumped at the opportunity to be involved with Jeff and the Nashville Kats as part of the ownership group,” Gruden said. “I have so much respect for what Jeff has done over his career and continues to do with the Nashville Kats and as commissioner of AF1. I’m excited to be part of the team.” […]

Jasmine Crockett Gives Commencement Address, Appears to Hint Graduates Should Be Prepared “Use a Chair” as a Weapon

Rep. Jasmine Crockett/ (D-TX) Video screenshot.
On Sunday, Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX)  gave a commencement address at Tougaloo College, a historically black college in Jackson, Mississippi, that was anything but uplifting.
During her remarks, Crockett appeared to hint at the promotion of using violence, telling the grads they need to know “how to use a chair” against people who say they don’t belong.
“There are going to be people that tell you that you don’t belong, and I am here to tell you over and over and over that you absolutely belong,” Crockett told the graduates.
“There are people that are gonna tell you that there is not a table in which there is a seat for you, but I am here to remind you of Montgomery and those folding chairs. Let me tell you that we know how to use a chair, whether we’re pulling it up or we’re doing something else with it. Let me be the first one to tell you that I know that y’all are ready to put your boots on the ground.”

According to The Daily Caller, Crockett appears to reference an incident where a folding chair was used as a weapon during a brawl.
Crockett appeared to reference a 2023 brawl in Montgomery, Alabama, where some white private boaters brawled with a number of black men, including a dock worker, with at least one of the black men using a folding chair as a weapon during the incident.

You can watch the full speech below:

Crockett’s hints of violence are in sharp contract to President Trump’s uplifting commencement address at the University of Alabama last week.
During his remarks, he told graduates, “If you think that you are too young to do something great, you are wrong. Now is the time to work harder than you have ever worked before, push yourself… find your limits, and then smash through them.”
President Trump also shared the profound ten lessons he has learned about life. […]

WATCH: Scott Jennings Causes CNN Hacks to Freak Out with a Simple Question During Fiery Debate Over President Trump Throwing a Military Parade for the Army

Credit: CNN screenshot
A panel of CNN leftists dropped the mask completely and revealed exactly what they thought of America’s military following a simple inquiry from Scott Jennings.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, President Trump wants to hold a military parade to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army. The parade is scheduled to be held in Washington, D.C., on June 14, 2025, which happens to be Trump’s birthday.
Critics have seized on this to claim Trump is using the military as an excuse to hold a birthday party for himself. However, the date also marks the anniversary of the Continental Congress’s creation of the U.S. Army in 1775. This act laid the foundation for American independence and led to the appointment of George Washington as commander-in-chief. It’s also Flag Day, a patriotic holiday that many Americans have overlooked in recent decades.
This topic arose during a CNN panel discussion Monday night involving Jennings and a parade of left-wing hacks. The left was represented by guests Jason Carter, the late President Jimmy Carter’s grandson, New York Times Columnist Charles Blow, and former ESPN anchor Jemele Hill.

While all three, along with liberal anchor Abby Phillip, were triggered by Trump’s plan, Blow was by far the most embarrassing.
“The things that animate him…The things he really gets excited about is about branding, it is about imagery, it’s about this nationalism,” Blow fumed. “The fact that they’re gonna have this military parade, we don’t need a military parade, we don’t need to spend millions or maybe hundreds of millions of dollars to do that.”
“But we wanna do it because he has to feed his inner image monster,” he added.

After Phillip started to weigh in, Jennings interjected with a basic question, which caused the panel to erupt in chaos.
“Are you guys against the military parade?” he asked.
The leftists on the panel erupted in shock at Jennings for understandably believing that they had a problem with the military (which is par for the course with liberals). Blow then went into an even worse, unhinged rant.

WATCH:

@ScottJenningsKY lights up CNN panelists who are frothing mad about a military parade:
“It’s a parade to show off our military, to show pride in the veterans that have defended this country — and you all are MAD about it.”
It’s amazing to watch leftists — who oppose EVERY… pic.twitter.com/0Sk3v9OEFf
— Western Lensman (@WesternLensman) May 6, 2025
“You cannot be cutting tens of thousands of federal workers at the same time we’re gonna be wasting money on the military parade,” Blow whined.
“Why is it wasteful?” Jennings asked.
“What do we need to show off our military for?” Blow snapped. “Strongmen want to do it because they want to make their citizens cower.”

“They want to say we are strong. I am here. I have all these weapons. Aren’t you proud of me?” he continued. “We don’t need to do that. We know that our military is, you know, multiples the size of anybody else’s military on the planet.”
“We don’t need them to bring the missiles down Pennsylvania Avenue in order for us to know that.”
Jennings then interjected to remind Blow of what had happened over the last four years.

“It’s not about the size,” Jennings explained. “In the last four years, morale in the military was down; recruitment was down. There is a concerted effort going on right now at the Pentagon, and it’s already successful, to enhance recruitment and to enhance pride in the idea of joining the military.”
“I think you all are discounting the idea that a national parade for our military to show off our military, to show pride in the veterans that have defended this country, and you all are mad about it?” he added.

“Veterans?! He (Trump) was trying to rename Veterans Day!” Blow exclaimed.

Carter then started whimpering and uttered a major whopper about Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
“I’m SO proud of our military, but I don’t think we should be wasting money,” he complained. “The worst thing for morale that I have seen Pete Hegseth as Defense Secretary.”
“That’s the worst thing you have seen?” a stunned Jennings asked.
This is the kind of garbage that Jennings has to deal with every night on CNN. He may actually find the Senate more peaceful should he run and win. […]

AI Brings Play-by-Play Commentary to Pong

While most of us won’t ever play Wimbledon, we can play Pong. But it isn’t the same without the thrill of the sportscaster’s commentary during the game. Thanks to [Parth Parikh] and an LLM, you can now watch Pong matches with commentary during the game. You can see the very cool result in the video below — the game itself starts around the 2:50 mark. Sadly, you don’t get to play. It seems like it wouldn’t be that hard to wire yourself in with a little programming.
The game features multiple AI players and two announcers. There are 15 years of tournaments, including four majors, for a total of 60 events. In the 16th year, the two top players face off in the World Championship Final.
There are several interesting techniques here. For one, each action is logged as an event that generates metrics and is prioritized. If an important game event occurs, commentary pauses to announce that event and then picks back up where it left off.
We really want to see a one- or two-player human version of this. Please tell us if you take on that challenge. Even if you don’t write it, maybe the AI can write it for you.
