In a recent interview with ABC News‘ Good Morning America, Oprah Winfrey shared details on her new ABC Primetime special “AI and the Future of Us: An Oprah Winfrey Special.”
In the interview, Winfrey shared that the first time she heard about AI and used it was when she had a conversation with Sam Altman, the CEO of Open AI.
Winfrey was initially skeptical of the new technology but changed her opinion and shared, “After Sam Altman was telling me about all the things that I could do, I was saying, ‘Okay, don’t be scared. ‘ You can get the ChatGPT app.’”
Later in the interview, Winfrey told ABC News’ Rebecca Jarvis, “I don’t think we should be scared; I think we should be disciplined, and we should honor it and have a reverence for what is to come.”

Popstar Taylor Swift has announced she will endorse Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.
Following Kamala Harris’ lackluster debate performance, Swift, in a post on her Instagram with 283 million followers, wrote, “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election.”
Swift continued,  “I’m voting for Kamala Harris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. She is a steady-handed, gifted leader, and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”
“I was so heartened and impressed by her selection of running mate Tim Walz, who has been standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF, and a woman’s right to her own body for decades,” added Swift.

Swift signed off as a Childless Cat Lady in the signature of her endorsement statement.

Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight. If you haven’t already, now is a great time to do your research on the issues at hand and the stances these candidates take on the topics that matter to you the most. As a voter, I make sure to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for this country.
Recently I was made aware that AI of ‘me’ falsely endorsing Donald Trump’s presidential run was posted to his site. It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter. The simplest way to combat misinformation is with the truth.
I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. Country star Jason Aldean joined Tucker Carlson in a recent interview, and the two talked about Aldean’s hit music, Donald Trump, gender ideology, and the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting.
In the caption of the interview released on X, Tucker wrote, “Jason Aldean survived the 2017 Las Vegas massacre only to have his character assassinated by the media. He’s bigger than ever.”
During the interview, Aldean shared details regarding the Las Vegas mass shooting that occurred during his performance at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival in 2017.
When discussing the shooting, the “Try that in a small-town” singer shared, “I can’t really hear anything but my band. I just kind of heard something that sounded like it was cracking, but it was the gun going off. It was coming through the microphones, and it just sounded weird. But I didn’t know what it was.”

“You just go and see the aftermath after it happened. There’s bullet holes in the front of my bus and the side of my band bus. The windows got shot out of the band bus. My bass player, who was on stage, one of my best friends for 25 years, and was standing next to me, had a bullet lodged in the bass he was playing at the time,” added Aldean.
Aldean later shared that the most challenging part of the tragedy is we still don’t know anything about the shooting to this day.
The country star stated, “The toughest part was going through all that and then you get home and you’re watching the news trying to figure out, why did this guy do this? What was his reasoning? Why this show? And you never really got any answers about any of that stuff.”
“Still, to this day, we don’t really know much about it,” added Aldean.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has revealed he supports Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.
While speaking at an economic forum in Vladivostok, Putin said he’s backing Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election and cited her “infectious” laugh as a reason to prefer her over Trump.
Putin stated, “Biden was our favorite but he dropped out of the race, he recommended that all his supporters support Harris, so we will too.”
The remarks by Putin come a day after the Department of Justice charged two Russian media executives for allegedly influencing the presidential election.

Before Joe Biden dropped out of the 2024 race and endorsed Harris, Putin publicly stated that he preferred Biden over Trump due to Biden being more “predictable.”

Russian President Vladimir Putin said Thursday that Ukraine’s gamble to seize his country’s territory has backfired by boosting his own military’s advance, a boast he paired with teasing support for Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming U.S. election.
Speaking at an economic forum in the far-eastern city of Vladivostok Thursday, Putin said it was the “sacred duty” of the Russian army to do everything to “throw the enemy out” of the border region of Kursk and protect its citizens after last month’s stunning assault.
Yet he also said that Moscow’s main goal remained capturing the Donbas region, Ukraine’s eastern industrial heartland where Russian troops have been pushing forward for months.
The goal of the Kursk operation was to make Russia “nervous and fidgety,” Putin said, forcing it to transfer troops from key areas of the battlefield and stop the Russian advance, particularly in the Donbas — composed of the neighboring Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

The ongoing dispute between DirecTV and the Walt Disney Company may prevent over 11 million households from watching the first presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
DirecTV and Disney are disputing the companies’ carriage agreement terms, which expired on September 1.
As a result of the dispute, DirecTv subscribers cannot access networks such as ESPN, FX, and ABC, which are hosting the presidential debate on September 10.
DirecTV currently has over 11.3 million subscribers in the United States, which means millions will not be able to watch the debate if DirectTV and Disney cannot make a deal or ABC decides not to stream the debate on their official website.

DirecTV CEO Ray Carpenter doesn’t seem in a rush to make a deal, and said in regards to recent negotiations with Disney, “We’re not playing a short-term game.”

The ongoing fight between the Walt Disney Company and DirecTV means potentially millions of households won’t be able to watch next week’s presidential debate on ABC, as the Disney-owned network is currently blacked out to DirecTV subscribers.
Disney and DirecTV are feuding over terms of their carriage agreement, which expired at the start of September. As a result, DirecTV subscribers cannot access Disney-owned channels, including ABC, ESPN, FX, and many others.
DirecTV, which is owned by AT&T, has an estimated 11.3 million subscribers nationwide.
While negotiations were believed to be ongoing, there were no active discussions as recently as Tuesday, unnamed sources told Deadline.
Forbes estimates that Trump and Harris’s first presidential debate will set record numbers despite the potential blackout on DirecTV.

NASA reported that a bright fireball lit up the Appalachia region before disappearing over North Carolina over the weekend.
In a Facebook Post, NASA reported the fireball was first spotted above Piney Flats, Tennessee, at 1:15 a.m. on Friday and was moving eastward at 31,300 mph.
NASA said in a statement, “The fireball was also detected by several cameras in the region, as well as the Geostationary Lightning Mapper aboard the GOES-16 spacecraft.”
The American Meteor Society received 175 witness reports from people on the ground who saw the bright meteor.

Witness reports came from 10 states, including Maryland, Kentucky, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia.

A particularly bright fireball recently lit up Appalachia as it streaked across the night sky before vanishing over North Carolina, according to NASA.
The “very bright fireball” was first spotted 45 miles above Piney Flats, Tennessee, at about 1:15 a.m. Friday, Aug. 30, the space agency said in a Facebook post. It was moving eastward at 31,300 mph, NASA said.
“The fireball was also detected by several cameras in the region, as well as the Geostationary Lightning Mapper aboard the GOES-16 spacecraft,” NASA said.
Plenty of people on the ground also saw the object burning brilliantly overhead, according to reports submitted to the American Meteor Society. The AMS received 175 witness reports from 10 states, including Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia — though the majority of sightings were clustered within the Appalachian states.

In a statement, NASA explained the booms by sharing that a fragment of the meteor broke off and “produced an energy of 10 tons of TNT, which generated a pressure wave that propagated to the ground, causing the booms.” […]

The New York City Department of Health has begun spraying New York City Streets with pesticides to prevent the spread of the West Nile Virus, transmitted by mosquitos.
Our Town reported that trucks have been deployed throughout New York City, spraying low concentrations of Anvil 10+10 and Duet.
Health Commissioner Dr. Ashwin Vasan stated, “The Health Department is actively working to prevent West Nile through public education, treating marshy areas and spraying for mosquitoes.”
One resident filmed a truck spraying pesticides near his neighborhood. In the video, a voice from a speaker can be heard saying, “The city has applied pesticides to reduce the threat of the West Nile Virus. To minimize exposure to the pesticide, go inside immediately until the truck goes past.”

The Health Department is spraying for mosquitoes to prevent people from having the West Nile virus in New York.
Starting tonight, trucks will spray pesticides in sections of Manhattan at 8:30 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Tuesday morning and in Brooklyn on Wednesday between 8:30 p.m. and 6 a.m. the following morning.The Health Department will spray very low concentrations of Anvil 10+10, Duet, or MERUS 3.

Singer Mariah Carey has revealed her sister and mother died on the same day.
In a statement on Monday, Carey shared that her mother, Patricia, and sister, Alison, passed away on the same day.
Carey shared, “My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day.”
The Grammy award-winning singer added, “I feel blessed that I was able to spend the last week with my mom before she passed.”

Carey added no further details regarding the cause of her mother and sister’s death.

It was previously reported that Carey’s mother was in hospice care after having organ failure complications.

The Times Union reported Monday that Alison, who was largely estranged from Carey, died at 63 from complications with her organ function and that she had been in hospice care.

Friends Star Matthew Perry’s last words have been revealed.
Court papers obtained by NBC News reveal that Perry’s last words were to his longtime assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa.
In the court documents, Perry told Iwamasa, “Shoot me up with a big one.”
Iwamasa has already pled guilty to various ketamine distribution charges and was indicted for being the one who administered the final dose of ketamine that led to Perry’s overdose.

In the indictment, prosecutors allege Iwamasa administered 27 shots of ketamine to Perry during the last week of his life, including the three injections that prosecutors claim killed Perry.

Besides Iwamasa, two doctors and Jasveen Sangha, who has been referred to by prosecutors as “The Ketamine Queen,” have been arrested in connection to Perry’s overdose death.

New details have emerged about Friends star Matthew Perry’s final hours after five people have been charged in connection with his death from the acute effects of ketamine.
According to court papers obtained by NBC News, Perry told his longtime assistant Kenneth Iwamasa to “Shoot me up with a big one” the night he received the fatal doses. Iwamasa, who pled guilty to various ketamine distribution charges in exchange for a plea deal, would inject Perry himself with the drug despite having no medical training.
After connecting with a doctor by the name of Salvador Plasencia, who connected Perry to the drug through “Ketamine Queen” Jasveen Sangha in September 2023, the actor was receiving six to eight shots per day in the month leading up to his death on October 28, 2023.
The documents also said that Perry requested three shots of ketamine in just six hours the day he died. It was after the third that Iwamasa went out to run errands and returned to find Perry face down in the heated end of his pool. Perry’s longtime assistant admitted to authorities that he had administered 27 shots of ketamine to Perry within his final five days.
Perry’s last post on Instagram was a photo of himself in his hot tub, which was the same hot tub he was later found dead.
