After the most illustrious career in the history of the NFL, Tom Brady has announced his retirement. With the Raiders in the quarterback market, where do they turn now?
As soon as the Raiders made the decision to move on from Derek Carr, the speculation over their next starting quarterback began. Of course, it didn’t take long for fans and pundits alike to connect the dots to Tom Brady. After all, who wouldn’t want to play in Las Vegas with Davante Adams and Josh McDaniels who he won multiple Super Bowls with in New England?
However, these hopes were quickly dashed when Brady announced his retirement before the off-season could even begin. The undisputed greatest player of all time, he decided to call it quits after a down season in Tampa Bay.
Now the Raiders, still in need of a quarterback after the burned bridge between themselves and Carr, find themselves in a difficult spot. While Brady may not have been the plan all along, he is still one less name in a position group that is always at a premium.
Luckily for the members of Raider Nation, there are a few things in the team’s favor. The most obvious is their possession of the seventh overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. In a great position to add a young passer, things could certainly be worse.
With ample cap space as well once Carr’s contract is gone, the team could easily add a veteran in free agency.
