POTD: Netherlands Marine Corps Snipers in Curaçao

Photo Of The Day: Defensie Caribisch Gebied, also known as the Caribbean Netherlands Command, refers to the military command responsible for the defense and security of the Caribbean territories of the Netherlands. They are a part of the Royal Netherlands Navy and operate in the Caribbean territories of the Netherlands, which include the islands of Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba, often referred to as the Caribbean Netherlands or the BES islands.

Here we see them train a number of new snipers. The training involved tasks like taking out targets at long distances and moving unseen through difficult and almost impassable terrain. The training involved several challenging aspects for the candidate snipers. The snipers will end up in various positions within Defense where they can perform their duties.

In terms of firearms, the Netherlands Marine Corps use Heckler & Koch HK417 designated marksman rifle, while sniper rifles include the Accuracy AWM and Accuracy International AXMC (chambered in .338 Lapua Magnum). For specific tasks, they also use the Barrett M82 anti-materiel rifle in .50 BMG.
