Raiders hold off Jets, win 2nd straight under Antonio Pierce

Aidan O’Connell hit Michael Mayer for a 7-yard touchdown, the only TD of the game, as the Raiders edged the Jets 16-12 on Sunday night at Allegiant Stadium.

The two rookies connected on a third-and-4 play that gave the Raiders their first lead en route to their second straight victory under interim coach Antonio Pierce. They evened their record at 5-5.

Josh Jacobs had his first 100-yard rushing day this season, finishing with 116 yards for the Raiders, including a 40-yard run that set up Mayer’s touchdown.

O’Connell passed for 153 yards for the Raiders, and Davante Adams caught six passes for 86 yards.

Greg Zuerlein accounted for all the scoring for the Jets (4-5), kicking field goals of 47, 53, 30 and 45 yards.

Daniel Carlson kicked three field goals for the Raiders, of 41, 54 and 40 yards.

Zach Wilson passed for 263 yards and rushed for 54 for the Jets. His pass into the end zone on the final play was knocked down by the Raiders.

Robert Spillane intercepted Wilson’s pass with less than two minutes left and the Jets driving.

The Raiders play at Miami (6-3) next Sunday.
