Saquon Barkley got drug tested by NFL immediately after backwards hurdle

Saquon Barkley did something that has seemingly never been done in an NFL game before during the Philadelphia Eagles’ win over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday: he hurdled a player backwards. Barkley’s backwards hurdle was immediately iconic, going mega viral on social media and leading every sports show on TV.

Barkley’s move was so spectacular that it also caught the attention of the NFL. The league drug tested Barkley for PEDs as soon as the game was over, according to new comments the running back made on the Air It Out podcast.

“I got drug tested right after the game,” Barkley said. “I’m not trying to do that again,” Barkley said about the move later in the interview. Watch the full podcast appearance here:

Barkley said he was going to hit a double spin, but he aborted it. Barkley thought the defender would go low, so he jumped up. That’s how the move of the season was born.

Barkley’s move was pure improvisation and creativity at its best. He seems to think he couldn’t pull that move off again if he tried to. That’s self-awareness right there. Either way, we’ll be thinking about Barkley reverse hurdle the rest of the season.
