SIG SAUER Releases Special-Edition Multicam MCX-SPEAR LT

SIG SAUER unveiled their MCX-SPEAR LT series of firearms in the fall of 2022, following up from the prior release of their large-frame SPEAR model. The original SPEAR is essentially the commercial version of their DoD Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) program entry to replace the military’s aging M4 carbines. The LT versions were added to maintain the design’s advantages while bringing additional options to buyers in further chamberings, such as 5.56 or 300 BLK. Now SIG has announced the release of a new special edition of their popular SPEAR LT, which is offered in Multicam thanks to their partnership with custom Cerakote gurus Blowndeadline, rather than the series’ standard FDE or black. The text of SIG’s announcement email is copied below for further details.

The MCX-SPEAR @ TFB:

This 11.5″-barrelled piston-driven gun comes configured as a pistol, with the option to purchase an add-on Multicam stock.

Now Available: MCX-SPEAR LT MULTICAM
In collaboration with Blowndeadline custom Cerakote, SIG Custom Works is proud to introduce the MCX-SPEAR-LT MULTICAM, featuring a hand-sprayed, Multicam pattern Cerakote finish, built to withstand extreme levels of wear and tear far better than standard dips and paint.
Configured as a pistol with an 11.5” barrel, and chambered in 5.56 NATO, the SIG Custom Works MCX-SPEAR-LT MULTICAM edition delivers all the same modularity and performance as the complete MCX-SPEAR LT family with a high-performance Cerakote finish from the experts at Blowndeadline. Multicam Minimalist Stock available only as accessory item, not included on the gun.
Additionally, the MCX-SPEAR LT MULTICAM comes with a Savior Equipment Coyote Covert Rifle Case.
The rifle case features a padded single rifle compartment, exterior accessory pockets, a concealed pocket, and hideable padded backpack straps.
This special edition gun will come with a Savior Equipment Covert Rifle Case in Coyote tan.

As is SIG’s standard practice, firearm pricing was left out of the announcement. However, the Gunbroker link on the product page’s “buy now” section reveals that there are several available from retailers there for around three grand, as of the time of this writing. As the special-edition nature of this release would naturally indicate, that’s a slight uptick from the usual cost of a standard tan model.

What do you think of this Multicam edition, readers? Does this gun look good in camo, and do you think it’s worth a bit of extra money, or do you prefer a standard FDE variant instead? Are there any other colors or patterns you’d like to see SIG’s SPEAR models come in? Do you plan to pick up one of these new Multicam firearms? Do you own any other guns in custom Cerakote colors or patterns, and if so, what do you have? Let us know your thoughts in the comments! See you at the range.
