TSA hiring event scheduled in Richmond

RICHMOND – The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will be conducting a local hiring event to fill openings for security officers at Richmond International Airport. The event is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Jan. 8, at the Embassy Suites by Hilton-Richmond located at 2925 Emerywood Parkway in Richmond.

TSA is hiring full- and part-time TSA officers at the airport and the event provides interested individuals with the opportunity to learn more about what it is like to work as a TSA officer.

TSA officer positions at Richmond International Airport have a starting hourly salary of $22.40 per hour and after two years on the job, TSA officers can earn $64,000 per year.

TSA officers screen thousands of airline travelers daily, ensuring they arrive at their destinations safely.

This event will provide an opportunity to accelerate the TSA officer hiring process. Attendees can learn about employment with TSA, receive guidance on completing the application, and if eligible, take a proctored test and interview.

Applicants do not need previous experience working in security or law enforcement fields. However, they must be U.S. citizens or nationals at age 18 or older at the time of application. High school diploma or equivalent experience is also needed and Selective Service registration is required for male applicants.

New hires will receive extensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center and they are paid while undergoing training. Applicants should bring two forms of federal or state-issued identification, one with a photograph and signature. Completing all of the steps at the event may take several hours.

Benefits of working at TSA for both part- and full-time employees include paid training, health, dental, and vision plans, life insurance and long-term care insurance plans, a retirement plan, a flexible spending account, employee assistance program, personal leave days, paid vacation, paid federal holidays, a Thrift Savings Plan, which is similar to a 401(k) and parental leave. TSA is committed to a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment and encourages individuals of all backgrounds to apply, including military veterans and persons with disabilities.
